INTRODUCTION TO SWITCH BARRELS FOR FULLBORE


For many years Benchrest Shooters have enjoyed the practice
of switch barreling which gives the individual competitor the  
opportunity of changing not only the calibre but a host of other 
things , these of which include chamber dimensions , barrel 
profiles and of course different weights etc.
I have over the last few years enjoyed the rise of  a local Rifle 
Club insofar as their knowledge of the finer art of handloading to 
a high degree of accuracy, barrel cleaning processes and of 
course confidence in what they do to make all this information 
come together .
To add to their already vast knowledge I will introduce some 
very precise chambering in separate barrels so they can see for 
themselves how this accuracy evolves and how quick they can 
change barrels in situ ie: on the range.
The chamber dimensions will not be discussed here as it could 
possibly lead to more rigorous testing by the event authorities .

So when the arrangements have been put into place a discussion 
will be convened with the selected members only ..

I might add that this practice is already being used by some of 
Australia’s top competitors .
